Frequently asked questions
Buying land and using the site
Is RuralLandListings a real estate brokerage?
No. RuralLandListings is an online marketplace where owners and land professionals advertise land for sale. We do not represent buyers or sellers, negotiate, handle money for a sale or take a commission. Buyers contact sellers directly.
How much does it cost to list land for sale?
A land listing costs $49 and runs for 30 days. There is no seller commission and no fee when the land sells. We review each listing before it goes live, and it comes down after 30 days unless you renew it.
Do buyers pay anything?
No. Searching, saving searches, email alerts and contacting sellers are free, and there is no buyer fee.
Is the listing information checked?
Listings are written by the seller. We review each one before it goes live for completeness and obvious problems, but we do not independently verify title, boundaries, legal access, zoning, utilities, flood status, mineral rights or taxes. Buyers should independently verify property information and conduct appropriate due diligence before purchasing.
What should I ask before buying rural land?
Common questions: Is there legal, year-round road access? Are power, a well or septic possible, and has a perc test been done? Is it surveyed? What zoning, easements or deed restrictions apply? Are mineral, water and timber rights included? Is it in a flood zone, and what are the annual taxes?
What does “License Verified” mean for a land agent?
Verified agent profiles are paid ($149 a year). Before we show the License Verified badge we look up the agent’s real estate license with the state real estate commission’s public license lookup and confirm the details with the agent. The profile shows which states were checked and the date. It is not a rating, review or endorsement.
Do I need an account?
No. You can browse, contact sellers and save searches without an account. Email alerts only need your email address, which you confirm with one click.
Selling land
How much does it cost to list land?
$49 for 30 days. There is no commission and no fee when it sells.
Who can list?
Owners and agents. If you are an agent, you can also add a free Basic land agent listing, or a Verified one for $149 a year.
What happens after 30 days?
The ad comes down on the next daily rebuild after its end date. Renew it for another $49 with the form on your listing.
Can I add photos?
Yes. Upload up to 25 photos from your phone or computer; they are resized automatically so your page loads fast. You can also add a YouTube or Vimeo video link and links to a survey or map.
Does paying guarantee buyers or a sale?
No. Your $49 buys 30 days of listing on the site. We cannot promise enquiries, traffic or a sale.
Can I edit my listing?
Yes. Use the link on your listing page to send changes; changes during the 30 days are free.
Land agent profiles
Is a Basic profile really free?
Yes. We never hide a correct Basic profile because a nearby land agent paid.
What does License Verified mean?
That on the date shown we found the agent’s real estate license active with the state real estate commission’s public license lookup for the states shown. It is not a rating, review or endorsement, and it says nothing about any property.
Does paying change what you publish?
No. It pays for the license check, the badge and a place above Basic profiles. It never buys a rating, a review or changed facts.
How are agents ordered?
License Verified first, then Basic. Within each, the most complete profiles come first, then A to Z.
Can agents list land for sale too?
Yes. Land listings are separate: $49 for 30 days, for owners and agents alike, with no commission.
